Here are a few unusual uses for lemons that will help make your home look and smell fresh.
Windows and Mirrors:
Put a few tablespoons of lemon juice into a spray bottle filled with water and spray it onto your windows, mirrors any other glass to give it a nice natural cleaning.
Be sure to wipe it off afterwards with newspaper.
Greasy Surfaces and Utensils:
Cut a lemon in half, dip it into some salt and scrub any greasy surfaces or utensils.
You can also add about a teaspoon of lemon juice to your dishwashing detergent to help clean grease off of your dishes and utensils.
Refrigerator Scent:
Put a couple of lemon peels inside your refrigerator to help absorb any foul odours and scents that may be lingering around.
Bathroom:
Dip half a lemon into a bowl of baking soda and use it to scrub your sink and bathtub, it does a wonderful job.
Polish Stainless Steel:
You can brighten up your stainless steel items by scrubbing them with a piece of lemon with salt on it.
Leave the lemon and salt solution on the items for a few minutes then rinse with warm water and dry it off good.
Your items should be looking like new.
Cutting Board:
Squeeze the juice of half a lemon onto your cutting board then dip the lemon peel into a bowl of salt and use the peel to give the cutting board a thorough scrub.
Let it sit for about 20 minutes then rinse the board, this should help remove tough food stains.
Microwave:
Squeeze an entire lemon into a microwave-safe bowl, add some water and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes on high and then let it sit inside for another 10 minutes.
The steam of this lemon and water-based solution condenses onto the sides of the microwave and loosens any stuck on food.
If there are some stubborn spots still remaining, dip a sheet of paper towel into the solution and use it to wipe the said spots.
