Toilet cleaning fizzy bombs – start with what is probably the very worst part of cleaning your bathroom – the toilet. It is an activity that nobody fancies. Gladly there is a solution – using those easy-to-make fizzy bombs can make things way easier. It’s really simple – you need baking soda, citric acid, and water. You slowly add the water, so that the ingredients can mix together without fizzing up. Then add a few drops of essential oils (lavender, lemon, etc.) to give a nice fresh aroma. Once the mixture is ready, pour it into ice cube trays, stick that in the freezer until it solidifies into cubes and then put one or two in the toilet. Once it’s done fizzing up – flush the toilet… and that’s it!
Homemade surface spray – the following mixture can be used to disinfect and clean your sink as well as most of the smooth surfaces you have in your bathroom. Simply mix equal parts of water and vinegar with a few drops of essential oils of your choice to give it a nice scent and subdue the unpleasant smell of vinegar. The container can be a small spray bottle. Keep in mind that some surfaces don’t react well to vinegar, so be careful if you are to use it outside the bathroom. Spray, rinse, repeat.
Cleaning your hardware – as you already know from more than a few life hacks, lemon works surprisingly well and could be used in a variety of ways when it comes to domestic cleaning. One thing you can apply it on is the metal hardware of your shower or tub or even sink – basically, you just rub the lemon on it, after which you wipe it off with a slightly damp cloth. Be careful if you are to use it with salt because that can leave scratches on your otherwise shiny, spotless hardware.
Polishing your showerhead – lemon isn’t the only ingredient out there which you can rely on when it comes to shiny surfaces. Sometimes your shower head can get grimy and a little repulsive – what you can do is soak an old shirt or a towel in vinegar and wrap it around the showerhead. You can then use one of the other tricks and apply essential oil just to get the vinegar smell out of it. This helps the water flow and gets all the filth away.
Glass shower door – for your shower screen you can mix up an equal quantity of vinegar and water again, but this time without essential oil. Using the oil sometimes causes streaking on the doors, so careful not to find that out the hard way.
