We have a ridiculous amount of snow and ice piling up on our streets and sidewalk this week which means lots and lots of salt will be in demand for keeping your sidewalks from freezing and even though it does a good job it is really bad for your pet plus it eats through the concrete over time.
The salt is also known to cause severe irritation to your pets’ paws plus if your pet consumes some of it, it can cause your pet to vomit or get a really bad case of diarrhoea.
This does not mean that you should leave your sidewalks to get iced up and risk slipping and falling.
Instead give our Do It Yourself De-Icer a test, it is guaranteed to do just as good of a job as lime rock or calcium chloride salt to keep your sidewalks from freezing after the snow plus veterinarians have agreed that it is 100% safe for your pet to walk on and absolutely no problem either if your pet licks the sidewalk.
What you will need is:
- 1 Teaspoon of Dawn Liquid Dish Soap
- 1 Tablespoon of Rubbing Alcohol
- ½ Gallon of Hot Water
* You can use a generic brand of Dish Soap but it has been tested that Dawn works the best.
Mix all the ingredients together in a bucket and pour over your sidewalk.
Do note that this De-Icer is meant to be used on your sidewalk after you have cleared all of the snow off or it should be used a few hours before the next snowfall is expected.
