A quite simple yet very effective solution that can be used to clean brass and copper objects is made only using lemons and salt.
To create the cleaning solution, cut a few lemons into wedges, dip a wedge into the salt and gently rub the lemon wedge against your copper or brass item.
As the lemon juice runs down the item you will see the metal surface begin to brighten.
